Agustín Tavárez trains in municipal management to strengthen his proposal in Las Terrenas
The mayoral candidate for Las Terrenas, Agustín Tavárez, reaffirmed his commitment to an efficient and professional administration by satisfactorily completing his training at the “Professor Yvelisse Prats Ramírez” School of Political Training and Public Management. This educational process, led by the high authorities of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), seeks to raise governance standards at the local level.
The graduation ceremony, held this Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the PRM National House, marked the culmination of a rigorous learning program. During the event, certificates were awarded to a large group of leaders committed to the development of their communities.
Academic background details
- 87 participants obtained their diploma in Municipal Management.
- 350 people were certified after completing the First Congress on Public Finance, Compliance, and Government Ethics.
The diploma course, designed specifically for mayors, council members, and technical teams, focused on fundamental pillars for the progress of any jurisdiction: strategic planning, resource management, transparency, accountability, and the optimization of public services.
The preparation of local leaders is the first step to ensure that public policies effectively reach every corner of our municipalities, ensuring management based on ethics and efficiency.

As an integral part of the academic experience, students developed final projects focused on solving specific needs in their territories. Additionally, they conducted a technical visit to a solid waste treatment plant in San Francisco de Macorís, with the goal of learning about successful environmental management models.
The meeting was attended by key figures in municipal politics, including Nelson Núñez, president of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu) and mayor of Samaná, as well as teachers and special guests who accompanied the graduates in this important step toward strengthening the Dominican municipality.
