Abel Martínez intensifies his national tour with an eye on 2028
The presidential hopeful for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Abel Martínez, maintains an active agenda of meetings nationwide. The political leader has focused on engaging in close dialogue with the party’s membership, leaders from various productive sectors, and citizens, with the goal of consolidating a proposal that will allow the PLD to regain power in the 2028 elections.
A call for unity and constant work
During a recent meeting in Bonao, under the format of the well-known “Coffee with Abel,” Martínez emphasized the urgency of abandoning internal impositions and personal egos. According to the opposition leader, the commitment of the purple organization must focus on connecting with the real needs of the population in the face of what he describes as a deficient administration by the current government.
We have to be very clear about things and, in the PLD, we would have to be very foolish if we do not win the Presidency in 2028. It is up to us to step forward and defend the Dominicans; to defend Dominican identity and public resources, which do not belong to the officials, but to the people.

Priority: direct contact with the grassroots
For Martínez, the key to electoral success lies in closeness. His strategy seeks to avoid large stages and massive speeches to prioritize familiar environments where he can listen firsthand to single mothers, young entrepreneurs, and agricultural producers. The candidate asserts that his goal is to become the presidential candidate who leads a historic transformation in the country.
Work agenda in Santiago
The “Coffee with Abel” program will continue its tour, moving during the first week of September to the Santiago province to continue strengthening contact with the PLD grassroots. The confirmed activities are:
- Tuesday, September 1st: Residence of Mrs. Deisy, 21 de Enero street, La Herradura.
- Wednesday, September 2nd: Silveria’s home, Jiménez Moya street, Vuelta Larga 19.
- Thursday, September 3rd: 69 Eugenio Perdomo street, Bella Vista sector.
