Mauricio Báez and Bameso will kick off the Golden Jubilee of the 2026 TBS District
The National District Basketball Association (Abadina) has confirmed that the 50th edition of the National District Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS Distrito 2026) will kick off next Tuesday, September 15. The BanReservas Arena, located at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, will be the official venue for this historic sporting celebration.
The main event of the opening day will be the matchup between the Mauricio Báez and Bameso clubs, two of the most iconic franchises in the capital, whose duel is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m.
Consensus and organization for a historic event
Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, reported that the date was selected after a consensus process between the Organizing Committee, the association, the tournament commissioner, Nelson Ramírez, and the eight clubs that will see action on the court. It should be noted that the Organizing Committee for this special edition is chaired by the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista.
The success of this Golden Anniversary tournament depends on the coordination and joint work we are carrying out with all the participating clubs and the relevant authorities to guarantee a high-level spectacle for the fans.

Recently, logistical and operational details were refined with representatives from seven of the eight participating clubs. In these meetings, security and organizational topics were addressed, with the presence of key figures such as National Police General Julio Ernesto Pérez Feliz and the official press team for the tournament.
