Dustin Poirier, although retired from mixed martial arts (MMA), is seriously considering the possibility of a boxing match against Nate Diaz. Poirier, 36, announced his retirement from the UFC in July, after his last fight against Max Holloway in Louisiana. Despite having made it clear that he would not fight again, he surprised his followers with a statement on social media.
Poirier and Diaz, who were scheduled to fight in the UFC in 2018, did not end up fighting. Both fighters blame each other for the cancellation of the fight. Diaz, 40 years old, left the UFC in 2022 and debuted in professional boxing against Jake Paul in 2023, losing by unanimous decision. In his last appearance, he defeated Jorge Masvidal in July 2024. Diaz has not yet responded to Poirier’s proposal.Zuffa Boxing, 12 rounds, me and Nathaniel, I would do it. Just one more fight I would accept.
