Hecher Sosa Earns UFC Contract After Tough Personal Test

Spanish bantamweight fighter Hecher Sosa secured a UFC contract on “Dana White’s Contender Series” on Tuesday, in a moment marked by pain and resilience. Sosa (14-1) achieved a dominant unanimous decision victory over Mackson Lee (9-1) in the main event of the series in Las Vegas. The fight took place less than 72 hours after the death of his father, who was battling cancer. The 30-year-old boxer decided to go ahead with the fight despite the tragic news received on Sunday morning. It is worth remembering that Sosa also lost his sister to cancer a year ago.

I can’t speak [with my father] today, but he is the reason why I am here. He is the reason why I am the man I am, and I will continue to represent him.
