Yandy Díaz on Restricted List Due to Passport Issues
TORONTO – The Tampa Bay Rays have placed designated hitter Yandy Díaz on the restricted list this Tuesday due to an issue with his passport renewal.
The decision was made before Tuesday’s game against Toronto. Rays manager Kevin Cash reported that Díaz is not expected to participate in the three-game series.
Díaz played in the first three games of the Rays’ six-game road trip. He is expected to rejoin the team for the home series against Detroit, which will begin on Friday.
Certainly disappointed that he’s not here because he’s a very important part of our team and offense, but we hope to have him back in Miami.

To cover Díaz’s absence, Tampa Bay called up infielder Coco Montes from Triple-A Durham.
So far this season, Díaz has a batting average of .238, with six home runs and 20 RBIs in 40 games.
