Mike Trout Hits Historic Home Run, Reaching 400 Home Runs
In a challenging season for Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels, the outstanding player achieved a historic milestone on Saturday. Trout, recognized as a three-time American League Most Valuable Player and eleven-time All-Star, hit his 400th career home run in the eighth inning against the Colorado Rockies. The hit, a massive 485-foot launch to left-center field, was courtesy of a 98 mph sinker from Rockies reliever Jaden Hill. This solo home run extended the Angels’ lead to 3-0, the final score of the game, which also broke an eight-game losing streak. This home run ranked as the tenth longest in the famous Coors Field, known for favoring hitters, since the implementation of Statcast in 2015, and the fourth longest in Trout’s career. In addition, this year he had already hit a 484-foot home run in April, which means he has two of the three longest home runs in MLB this season. After the game, Trout received the ball from the fan who caught it. In a gesture of gratitude, Trout gave the fan, his wife, and their two young children three bats and two autographed balls. At the fan’s request, he also played catch with him on the field. It’s something that was on the list at the beginning of the season. I’m happy it’s over. I’m enjoying it, obviously. It’s a shame my family wasn’t here, but they watched it on TV. My kids at home, my two sons, and my wife were able to watch it on TV. My friends and family back home in Jersey, they can stop sending me messages to connect the 400. It means a lot to me.

Once they grow up and realize it, it will be an incredible memory for the father to tell his children, for them to experience. I know how I felt when I went to a game with my dad.

I enjoy playing this game. Obviously, there will be ups and downs. That’s part of it. It will always be a challenge. That’s what I love about it. You feel a little humbled when you feel like you go out and have so much success and then go through tough times. That’s what I’ve been going through. It’s good to finally reach this milestone.
