Austin Riley Returns to Action with the Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves have activated third baseman Austin Riley from the 10-day injured list this Friday, marking a significant reinforcement for the team.
Riley had been placed on the injured list on July 12 due to a right abdominal strain.
The two-time All-Star, 28, has had an outstanding season, batting .274 with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs in 93 games. He leads the team in hits with 104 and ranks second in runs scored with 51.
In his career, Riley has a .272 batting average with 167 home runs and 477 RBIs in 812 games since his debut with the Braves in 2019. The player, selected in the first round of the 2015 draft, was an All-Star in 2022 and 2023.
In a related move, the Braves sent infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Alvarez, 22 years old, batted .200 (6 for 30) in eight games, with a double and two runs scored.
