Bryce Harper Ejected After Arguing Strike Call

In an encounter full of emotions, the outstanding Phillies player, Bryce Harper, was ejected in the seventh inning of Friday’s game against Detroit. The reason for the ejection was a heated argument following a third strike call on a checked swing attempt. The Phillies managed to score three runs in the seventh inning, tying the score 3-3. At that moment, with two runners on base and two outs, Harper was facing Tigers reliever Will Vest. Harper tried to hold up his swing on a changeup from Vest, but the third base umpire, Vic Carapazza, called it a strike. Harper’s reaction was immediate, taking off his helmet and protesting angrily while gesturing towards Carapazza. The ejection was instantaneous, and Harper retreated to the dugout carrying his helmet.

I stepped out of the batter’s box and went towards him, so I think it was justified.

After the Phillies beat the Tigers 5-4, Harper commented that he hadn’t seen the replay yet, which seemed to indicate that his swing had completed the movement.

You can’t get ejected in that situation, especially with the possibility of the ninth inning coming and my turn at bat.
