Moves on the Injured List for the St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals have made significant moves to their roster, placing two key players on the injured list and promoting two promising Triple-A Memphis prospects.

The outfielder Alec Burleson and catcher Yohel Pozo are the players affected by these decisions.

Burleson was placed on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his right wrist. He was given an injection to treat the inflammation and the team will re-evaluate the injury after 48 hours.

Pozo, for his part, was placed on the concussion list for seven days. This happened after receiving a foul tip on his mask during the 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Despite finishing the game, concussion symptoms began to appear.

To cover these absences, the Cardinals called up catcher Jimmy Crooks and infielder César Prieto from Triple-A.

Crooks, ranked as the number 6 prospect in the Cardinals system according to MLB Pipeline, has been batting .274 in Triple-A, with an OPS of .778, 21 doubles, 14 home runs, and 79 RBIs.

Prieto, a Cuban who defected in 2021, is batting .295 with nine home runs and 62 RBIs in Memphis.

Both prospects are already with the team in Cincinnati.
