Cristian Javier Leaves Game Due to Illness
Houston Astros pitcher Cristian Javier had to leave Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles after only three innings due to illness.
Javier allowed three hits and one run, with two strikeouts, before being replaced by Shawn Dubin in the fourth inning. The team announced that he retired due to illness, without offering further details about his condition.
This was Javier’s second season start, returning after a 14-month absence due to Tommy John surgery. In his debut on Monday night, he allowed three hits and two runs, with five strikeouts, in five innings against Boston.
