Miguel Amaya to the Injured List After Ankle Injury
Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya returns to the injured list after suffering a left ankle sprain during the game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Amaya, who had recently returned from a prolonged absence, was injured while stepping on first base on Wednesday night.
After a single within the box in the eighth inning, Amaya stepped on the base strangely and twisted her ankle. He was removed from the field on a stretcher.
“You knew something was really wrong very quickly,” said Cubs manager Craig Counsell.

X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures, but Amaya’s ankle already showed considerable swelling.
“It’s bad luck, unfortunately, and we’re going to miss him,” Counsell added.
