Linn Grant conquers The Annika with a dominant performance

Swedish golfer Linn Grant demonstrated exceptional control in her game, culminating in the victory at The Annika. Grant finished with a round of 65 strokes, five under par, securing the title with a three-stroke lead over Jennifer Kupcho. This triumph represents Grant’s second title on the LPGA, and she again received the trophy from the hands of the legendary Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam, host of the tournament.

“You made this field look easy. It’s not easy,” Sorenstam commented to Grant on the 18th hole.

Grant maintained an impressive pace, playing 52 consecutive holes without committing a bogey, a streak that ended on the last hole, but with the victory already secured. His performance led him to finish with a total of 19 under par, 261 strokes. The Swedish golfer highlighted the importance of this triumph, recalling her participation in clinics given by Sorenstam when she was a child. Grant expressed her gratitude to Sorenstam for inspiring her in her beginnings in golf.
“You made this field look easy. It’s not easy,” said tournament host Annika Sorenstam to Linn Grant on the 18th hole green on Sunday. Kupcho, who achieved a birdie on the first hole to temporarily tie for the lead, couldn’t keep up the pace. Grant responded with a birdie on the next hole and maintained the lead throughout the tournament. The Swedish golfer secured her position with a 15-foot birdie on the fifth hole and consolidated her advantage on the ninth hole. Gaby López, from Mexico, finished in third place after making birdies on four of the last six holes, with a score of 65 strokes. Brooke Matthews also had a memorable day, achieving a hole-in-one on the 12th hole, which earned her a two-year lease of a Lamborghini Huracán. Matthews made a chip-in for eagle two holes later, adding to her excellent performance and finishing in ninth place. Nataliya Guseva also had her stellar moment, achieving a birdie on the last hole to finish with a score of 68 strokes, which placed her among the top 60. Lucy Li also advanced to next week, thanks to a birdie on the last hole, which allowed her to move up 13 positions and place 58th. Grant, who has maintained an annual winning streak since 2020, expressed his satisfaction with his performance. Defending champion Nelly Korda finished in 15th place.
