Kupcho and Maguire Lead Dow Championship with Impeccable Performance
MIDLAND, Mich. – Jennifer Kupcho and Leona Maguire excelled in the second round of the Dow Championship, the only team event on the LPGA Tour, by recording an impressive 60 under par in the best-ball format on Friday. The Solheim Cup rivals accumulated a total of 127 strokes, 13 under par, at the Midland Country Club, after a first round with 67 strokes in alternate shot on Thursday.Kupcho and Maguire maintain a one-stroke lead over Cassie Porter and Gemma Dryburgh, who led the first round and finished with 62 strokes. On Saturday another round will be played in alternate shot, and on Sunday it will close with a best ball round. The plan today was to give ourselves as many opportunities as we could, try to have two opportunities on each hole. For the most part, we achieved that. It was nice to start with a birdie and a kind of eagle very early to get the ball rolling.

Sarah Schmelzel-Albane Valenzuela (61), Manon De Roey-Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (61), and Yan Liu-Yahui Zhang (62) teams positioned themselves with 11 under par. It was a great round. I feel like I definitely feed off Sarah’s energy. She makes it very easy for me on the course. Lexi Thompson and Meghan Kang, who shared second place after a first round of 67, recorded 65 strokes, falling to ninth place with 8 under par. There’s still a lot of golf to be played. I think just staying where we are and continuing to do the best we can.
