YOKOHAMA, Japan – Max Greyserman is looking for his first PGA Tour victory, after finishing one stroke away from the win last year in Japan. Greyserman showed his skill by recording an impressive round of 63 strokes, eight under par, on Friday. His performance puts him with a total of 12 under par, 130 strokes in two rounds, securing a four-stroke lead at the Baycurrent Classic. His closest pursuers are Alex Smalley (65), Xander Schauffele (63) and Alex Noren (65). The tournament, the only PGA Tour event in Japan, moved this year to Yokohama after being held east of Tokyo. The event debuted in 2019, with Tiger Woods as champion.
I’ve been doing things right this week from the start, so I just need to keep doing what I’m doing.

When asked if he had gained followers after his performance the previous year, where he was close to victory, Greyserman replied:
Schauffele, after a round of 71 strokes on Thursday, was affected by strong winds. However, on Friday, the conditions were more favorable.I imagine some of these people were here last year and I’m sure they remember me.

Four other players are five strokes behind the leader, including defending champion Echavarria. Kazuki Higa, from Japan, had a blazing start with eight birdies in his first nine holes, but couldn’t maintain the pace in the second half, finishing with 64 strokes and six behind the leader. Collin Morikawa, a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, completed a round of 68 strokes, three under par, and is nine strokes behind the leader at the Yokohama Country Club.Yesterday I felt like I was just trying to survive the round and, at times, I felt like there was almost no wind today. The greens were rolling pretty well and the wind died down. If you’re hitting good shots, you’re being rewarded for them, so I was able to take a lot of advantage of that.
