Golfer Grant Forrest claimed his second title on the DP World Tour, winning the Nexo Championship held at Trump International Golf Links.
The victory gave Forrest more than a trophy: a call from Donald Trump himself, owner of the field.
Trump, from his field northwest of Washington, D.C., where he was preparing to play, congratulated the champion.
Forrest, a 32-year-old Scot, finished with 72 strokes, tying par, securing a four-stroke victory over Joe Dean. This triumph marks his second title on the European circuit, the previous one also in Scotland, four years ago. The tournament was held at Trump’s course for the second consecutive week, following the Senior PGA Championship of the European Legends Tour, won by Bo Van Pelt of Oklahoma.I have very good players, but they are not like you, Grant. We all saw you play. What a round of golf! That course is big, strong, and tough. Your swing is great. And it’s a great honor that you have won.
