Tommy Fleetwood Seeks First Title at the FedEx St. Jude Championship

In a day full of ups and downs, Tommy Fleetwood remains in the fight for his first PGA Tour title at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Despite a complicated day that included an unfavorable three-stroke swing and another two-stroke swing on the final hole, Fleetwood managed a 69 under par and leads by one stroke over Justin Rose. The pressure is high, with Scottie Scheffler hot on his heels just two strokes behind. The TPC Southwind course promises an exciting finish in this crucial stage of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

“It’s just another opportunity to go out there and try to have the best round of golf I can, enjoy being in that position. The more I put myself out there, the more chance there is of it happening, and just go out there and keep learning from each experience. But tomorrow might be my day, it might not be, but being there is the most important thing, and I’ll continue to try to do that,” Fleetwood said.

Fleetwood, known for his victories on international stages, but still seeking his first PGA Tour win, began the third round with a three-stroke lead over Rose. An unfortunate incident on the 3rd hole, where his ball went into the water and then into a bunker, cost him a double bogey. Rose took advantage of this situation to take the lead with three consecutive birdies. Fleetwood, however, recovered and regained the lead, reaching a three-stroke advantage. However, a bogey on the 18th hole, after a drive into the rough, made him finish the day with a total of 14 under par, 196 strokes. Meanwhile, Rose achieved a birdie on the 18th hole, finishing one stroke behind Fleetwood. Scheffler, for his part, had an outstanding round with six birdies, placing himself two strokes behind the leader. Scheffler is seeking his fifth victory of the year, which would make him the first player with five wins in consecutive seasons since Tiger Woods. J.J. Spaun and Andrew Novak are three strokes away. Sunday presents itself as a crucial day on the PGA Tour. The top 50 players in the FedEx Cup will advance to the second playoff event, the BMW Championship, securing their participation in the most important events of next season.
Tommy Fleetwood
Tommy Fleetwood ha estado en los primeros planos del PGA Tour durante su carrera, pero buscará una victoria esquiva en el FedEx St. Jude.
Rickie Fowler and Chris Kirk, with a 66 each, could climb positions to enter the top 50, along with Bud Cauley and Jhonattan Vegas. Jordan Spieth could fall out of the top 50. For Fleetwood, victory is the ultimate goal. Despite his outstanding career, with 42 top 10s, 28 top 5s, and 11 top 3s, he still hasn’t achieved a title on the PGA Tour. In June, at the Travelers Championship, Fleetwood missed a similar opportunity, and now he has a new chance on Sunday at TPC Southwind.
