Vettel Praises Verstappen’s “Terrifying” Growth

The four-time Formula 1 world champion, Sebastian Vettel, has expressed his admiration for Max Verstappen’s “terrifying” progress, highlighting his winning mentality in the run-up to the last two races of the season. Vettel, who has also achieved four consecutive titles with Red Bull, anticipates that Verstappen, at 28 years old, could surpass his own record of championships. Verstappen still has a chance to win the title this year, with a 24-point difference from the championship leader, Lando Norris, and the same number of points as Norris’s McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri. Regardless of whether he achieves his fifth title this year, Vettel believes that Verstappen improves with each season, attributing his strength to a mentality that makes him resistant to pressure.

I think what’s scary is that it’s getting better. We know it’s good, but it keeps getting better. It keeps hungry, keeps willing to learn.

The ex-champion emphasized that, while talent is undeniable, the key to Verstappen’s strength lies in his mentality, especially in crucial situations. Vettel highlighted Verstappen’s ability to remain calm, make few mistakes, and perform under pressure.

Vettel compared the situation to the first victory and the first championship, emphasizing that Verstappen no longer needs to prove his ability to win a championship.
