Lando Norris Secures Pole Position in Austria, but Seeks Consistency
Lando Norris, McLaren driver, secured pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix, a result he considers a step forward in his campaign, although he acknowledges previous mistakes in the season. Norris beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by more than half a second. The performance on Saturday was a turning point for Norris, who was coming off a complicated weekend in Canada, where he collided with his teammate, Oscar Piastri.Despite satisfaction with the result, Norris emphasized the need for greater consistency, after making mistakes in the classifications of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Canada.“It’s good to see the old me from time to time, eh? Well done, the car was pretty nice”.

“It’s progress. It’s steps forward. I’m very happy with today, but there’s still a long way to go. It’s a long season. What I had to do today, I did it. And it doesn’t make up for the last weekends or anything, but I did it today, and that’s what mattered. So yes, I am very satisfied and happy to have achieved it when it was necessary”.

“I think throughout qualifying, I was missing that last tenth, but not getting the opportunity to do my last Q3 run was quite frustrating. Sometimes those things are going to happen. I was quite happy that I didn’t lose more positions for not doing it. So, third is still a good place to start here. You can race on this track, so try to make progress”.
