F1: Monaco Grand Prix Extends Contract Until 2035, A Classic!
Lando Norris, winner of this year’s race in Monaco. The Monaco Grand Prix has secured its place on the Formula 1 calendar until the year 2035, as confirmed by the sport’s organization this Friday. The Monaco street circuit, which winds around the harbor of Monte Carlo, is widely recognized as one of the most iconic settings in F1. After several years of uncertainty about its future, the race, which initially extended until 2031 in November, has now guaranteed four additional years thanks to an agreement between F1 and the organizers. This agreement makes the Monaco Grand Prix one of the longest-running on the current calendar, surpassed only by the agreements of Madrid (2035), Bahrain (2036), Australia (2037), and Miami and Austria (both 2041). The edition this year in Monaco implemented a new rule of two mandatory pit stops, with the aim of adding excitement to the competition, although this measure was criticized by both the drivers and the fans. Formula 1 and the organizers of Monaco have faced pressure to improve the circuit and facilitate overtaking, as F1 cars and the narrow streets of Monte Carlo often make maneuvers difficult. It remains to be seen if changes will be made to the circuit design, as Friday’s announcement did not include any mention of possible modifications.

The streets of Monaco have echoed with the sound of Formula 1 since the beginning of this sport. I am pleased to announce the extension of this fantastic event until 2035.

Stefano Domenicali, head of F1
Domenicali added that the race is an iconic event, loved by all drivers and fans, thanks to its location in the most glamorous principality in the world.
