Formula 1 Teams Extend Their Support for F1 Academy

The ten Formula 1 teams have formalized their commitment to the F1 Academy, the all-female series. They have signed a new multi-year agreement that ensures their support for the drivers and the presence of team designs on the cars beyond this season. This agreement is based on the model implemented in 2024, where each F1 team began to support a driver from the Academy and adopt their colors on the car. The new agreement guarantees the continuity of this partnership for several more years. In addition, it will expand with the arrival of Cadillac, which will join the Formula 1 grid in 2026 and the F1 Academy program from 2027. The F1 Academy also announced an update to its participation rules. Starting in 2027, drivers who have competed in two seasons will be able to obtain an exemption to compete a third year, as part of what the organizers call a “personalized approach to nurturing talent.” This provision will only apply to drivers who demonstrate clear potential for continued growth.

The long-term commitment of support from the current ten Formula 1 teams, and the incorporation of Cadillac from 2027, sends a powerful message about the future of the F1 Academy.

La serie F1 Academy se unió al programa de apoyo de la F1 en 2024, compitiendo junto a los grandes premios de todo el mundo.
Founded in 2023, the F1 Academy was created to establish a clearer path for women in motorsport and broaden participation at the grassroots level. After running its debut season as an independent series, the championship joined the Formula 1 support program in 2024, competing alongside Grand Prix events around the world. The 2025 season will come to an end in Las Vegas (November 20-22), with Mercedes-backed Doriane Pin leading Ferrari-backed Maya Weug by nine points before the final round. The current 2024 champion, Abbi Pulling, who was supported by Alpine, moved up to the GB3 Championship this year, demonstrating the Academy’s growing success as a launchpad for female drivers.
