India Defines its Starting Eleven for the Adelaide Test
Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw have been selected to represent India in the next test in Adelaide. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of fast bowlers.
The selection of the Indian team faced crucial decisions days before the test, especially regarding maintaining confidence in Shaw, the inclusion of a spinner, and the choice of wicketkeeper.
The team resolved these doubts when announcing their starting eleven.
Shaw, despite the pressure exerted by Shubman Gill, who showed a better performance in the practice matches, was confirmed as an opener.
Although Gill impressed, Shaw, with his experience and potential, was chosen to maintain continuity in the opening.Regarding the spinner, Ashwin, he remained in the team, especially with the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury.
The decision not to include Ashwin in an opening match was criticized in the past, so his experience was opted for.
The choice of wicketkeeper led to the decision to leave out Pant, preferring Saha for his skills in specific conditions. The team management considered that the pink ball demanded a pure and experienced wicketkeeper.
Yadav, with experience in tours of Australia and a good performance in practice matches, was selected as the third fast bowler.India Team: Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
