Manchester City issued a statement expressing their condolences to the Hatton family before the start of the match.

Rest in peace, legend.” Manchester United’s top scorer, Wayne Rooney, also posted a photo showing him in the ring with Hatton. Rooney said: “Devastated. A legend, a warrior and a great person. My thoughts are with all of Ricky’s family.”
