Lamont Roach Jr. Steps Up to Face Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz

The current WBA super lightweight champion, Lamont Roach Jr., will move up to the 140-pound category to face Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz for the WBC interim super lightweight title on December 6 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. This was reported by Premier Boxing Champions. This fight will be the main event of a PBC pay-per-view on Prime Video. Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOs) changed course after a proposed rematch in August with Gervonta “Tank” Davis fell apart, and his rival went on to face Jake Paul in an exhibition in November. Roach fought Davis in March, achieving a controversial majority draw. Instead of waiting for the outcome of the Paul-Davis fight, Roach will seek to become an interim champion at 140 pounds, making this his third consecutive fight competing in a different weight class. Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOs) lost by a close decision to Davis in December 2021. Since then, he has had a record of 6-1, winning the vacant WBC super lightweight title in his last fight, when he defeated Omar Salcido in July. Cruz, who fights from Mexico City, and his team see this fight as an opportunity to become the next big star in the country, stating that it is the “most important fight of his career”.

This is the most important moment Isaac Cruz has had in his career. This is even bigger than the first fight with “Tank” because Mexico is looking for a new face of boxing after Canelo lost to Crawford. They are looking for a world champion and a new star to fight on the weekends of Mexican Independence Day and Cinco de Mayo.

Sean Gibbons, Cruz’s manager
This fight is expected to propel Cruz to that level of recognition.
