The British heavyweight boxer, Lawrence Okolie, has offered his help to Jake Paul to prepare for his expected fight against Anthony Joshua, even proposing sparring sessions with the YouTuber turned boxer.
The Paul vs. Joshua showdown, scheduled as an eight-round professional bout with 10-ounce gloves in Miami, was recently announced. It will be Joshua’s first fight since September 2024, when he suffered a knockout loss in the fifth round against Daniel Dubois.
The former cruiserweight champion, Okolie (22-1, 16 KOs), is in full preparation for his own fight, which will coincide with the Paul-Joshua event on December 19 in Nigeria. This will be his first fight since July, when he suffered a biceps injury in the first round.
Okolie wants Paul to have a realistic experience of what it means to face a world-class heavyweight.I want to go and help Jake Paul, give him a chance. I want to go to Puerto Rico. What I don’t want to happen to him is for him to get destroyed in a round or something like that if AJ sets his mind to it.

Okolie, who has been Joshua’s sparring partner in the past, does not rule out the fight going beyond the first rounds, despite widespread expectations. Okolie acknowledges the disparity in size and skill, but also points out that in boxing, more unexpected things have happened. The British boxer speculates that Joshua might not seek a quick knockout, but warns that if Paul manages to land significant blows, the situation could change drastically. Okolie suggests that, given Joshua’s inactivity, the match could be used as an exercise. However, if Paul manages to hit Joshua hard, the fight could become more interesting.I need to know. Maybe he has a secret that I don’t know.
