Mayweather and Pacquiao to Meet for a Rematch at the Sphere in Las Vegas

The boxing world is gearing up for an epic event. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will face each other again in a professional rematch, scheduled for September 19th at the innovative Sphere in Las Vegas. This highly anticipated fight will be broadcast globally via Netflix, marking a milestone in boxing history by reaching a massive audience. The announcement comes after Mayweather’s decision to come out of retirement, following his exhibition scheduled for 2026 against Mike Tyson, and after signing a partnership with CSI Sports/Fight Sports. Pacquiao, who also came out of retirement last July, faced Mario Barrios in a fight that ended in a majority draw. In addition, he will participate in an exhibition against Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The weight category for the fight, as well as the number of rounds, have not yet been specified.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision in a historic fight on May 2, 2015. Both will meet again in the ring on September 19 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, in a match that will be broadcast globally on Netflix. The event production will be handled by EverWonder Studio, Hidden Empire, and Limitless X Holdings. The promotion will be led by Manny Pacquiao Promotions and Mayweather Promotions, in collaboration with CSI Sports/Fight Sports. In their previous fight, on May 2, 2015, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision. Although the fight did not meet the generated expectations, it did break records, including the most PPV purchases in the United States, with 4.6 million purchases and over $410 million in revenue. In addition, it set a box office record with $72.2 million in ticket sales.

I already fought and defeated Manny once. This time the result will be the same.

Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather, who will turn 49 on February 24, retired from boxing at the age of 40 after knocking out MMA star Conor McGregor in August 2017, leaving his record at a perfect 50-0 with 27 KO victories. Since then, he has participated in exhibitions against figures like Logan Paul and John Gotti III. Last September, it was announced that Mayweather and Tyson would face each other in an exhibition in the spring of 2026. The date and location have not yet been confirmed. Pacquiao, 47, has long sought a rematch with Mayweather, suggesting he wasn’t 100% when they first met due to a shoulder injury. He retired from boxing after his 2021 defeat to Yordenis Ugas, but returned in 2025 to face Barrios. With both boxers out of retirement and competing professionally, Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) will seek to be the first to tarnish Mayweather’s perfect record.

Floyd and I gave the world what is still the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough, they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix. I want Floyd to live with the only loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bring glory to the Philippines.

Manny Pacquiao
Although the fight won’t have the chance to break PPV records, its arrival on Netflix will mean it will be globally available to over 230 million subscribers. The 2024 match between Jake Paul and Tyson was Netflix’s first foray into boxing, attracting 108 million live viewers worldwide, becoming the most streamed sporting event in history.

At the beginning of my career, I spent weeks at the training camps of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas and the Philippines. It was undeniable that they were the two hardest workers in boxing, and their victories and recognitions were a product of that. Bringing this rematch to Netflix is a great ‘full circle’ moment. We are delighted to combine their historic rivalry with Sphere’s immersive technology to offer a historic sporting event to our members around the world.

Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Sports at Netflix
The event will also mark the first boxing match at the Sphere. The UFC held an event at the $2.3 billion venue in 2024, with production costs exceeding $20 million.
