Anthony Joshua Could Return to the Ring in February 2026

Anthony Joshua’s return to the ring could be delayed until February 2026, according to statements from his promoter, Eddie Hearn. Hearn, in conversations, revealed that, although the possibility of Joshua fighting this year was initially considered, the tight schedule makes a return in early 2026 more likely.

“At this moment, the most likely scenario is a return in February,” Hearn said.

Joshua, who hasn’t competed since his defeat to Daniel Dubois last September, is currently in full training. However, Hearn believes that a return in December would involve a very tight preparation period. If it materializes in February, it would be the first time in Joshua’s career that he doesn’t fight in a calendar year. Hearn also mentioned that, ideally, Joshua could participate as a co-main event on another card, although he acknowledged that this could be complicated given the boxer’s fame. The promoter added that Joshua will fight in February, either in a second fight or in his return.

Hearn commented that Joshua is a victim of his own success, as every time he fights he has to do it in a large stadium and in demanding fights. The next step is crucial for Joshua, who still aims to face Tyson Fury next year. Hearn pointed out that Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, is the only person capable of finalizing a deal with Fury. «Our agreement [with Alalshikh] is very close. We will finalize it, but that is totally irrelevant if Fury is not involved», Hearn said. «The only person who can make that fight is Turki Alalshikh. That’s the reality, because the amount of money Tyson Fury would receive and the way that deal has to fit, he is perfectly positioned to make the fight».
