Daniel Dubois Breaks Ties with His Trainer Don Charles

Former world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois has decided to part ways with his trainer, Don Charles. This news comes after his recent defeat against Oleksandr Usyk.

Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) suffered a KO defeat in the fifth round against Usyk at Wembley Stadium last month. This result prevented Dubois from obtaining the undisputed heavyweight champion title.

The victory crowned Usyk as undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time, adding Dubois’ IBF belt to his collection and inflicting the third defeat of his career on the Briton.

Dubois has made the decision to leave Charles, with whom he began working before his first fight against Usyk in August 2023.

Charles was a key figure in Dubois’ rise in the heavyweight rankings and in the revitalization of his career.

After a brave performance in their first fight together against Usyk in Poland, Dubois achieved important victories over Filip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller, followed by a resounding knockout victory over Anthony Joshua in September.

Dubois knew Usyk’s strategy

This is the latest change for Dubois, as co-trainer Kieran Farrell also left the team earlier this month. The British boxer has also started working with boxing manager Sam Jones.

Reports suggest Dubois will work with Joshua’s former trainer, Tony Sims, who also trains, among others, Conor Benn in Essex.

Dubois previously worked with Shane McGuigan, who trains his sister and lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois, before joining Charles.
