Frazer Clarke aims for the conquest of the British heavyweight title to propel his career towards even greater goals, emulating the achievements of figures like Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Lennox Lewis.
Clarke, with a record of 9-1-1 and 7 knockouts, seeks to redeem himself after the technical knockout defeat in the first round against Fabio Wardley last October. He will face Jeamie ‘TKV’ Tshikeva (8-2, 5 KOs) for the vacant British heavyweight title in Derby, England, this Saturday.
The 34-year-old boxer, originally from Burton-upon-Trent, won an Olympic bronze medal in 2021. However, he suffered a fractured jaw and cheekbone in his first professional defeat against Wardley, which followed an exciting points draw against his English rival in March last year. Both fights were for the British title, and Wardley later won the WBO interim title.
Since then, Clarke secured a first-round knockout victory over Ebenezer Tetteh. This will be his third attempt to win the British title, following his two fights with Wardley, who was recently promoted to WBO world champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt.
Figures like Henry Cooper, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Lennox Lewis have held the British title belt, and look what they achieved afterward,” Clarke stated.
Clarke commented that the British title represents a crucial step in his career, focusing on the victory against TKV instead of thinking about future fights.
Clarke, who used to work as a security guard at boxing events, considers the young Moses Itauma, 20 years old, as the best contender behind the number one in the world, Usyk.
The clash between Clarke and TKV, from Tottenham, London, will be broadcast on BBC Television, marking the first time in 20 years that the channel has shown live professional men’s boxing.
Clarke states that the main focus is to win the title, regardless of media exposure.
