Drew Doughty to the injured list after taking a shot to the foot
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty has been placed on the injured list due to a hit to his left foot.
Doughty, a key piece in the Kings’ defense since 2008, will be out for several weeks, according to coach Jim Hiller.
The 35-year-old player had to leave the match against Ottawa last Saturday after being shot by Tyler Kleven.
This injury is not related to the ankle fracture that caused him to miss the first 47 games of last season, which is good news for his quick recovery.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion has two goals and six assists in 19 games with the Kings this season, his 17th in the NHL. In addition, the two-time Olympic gold medalist hopes to be in contention for a spot with Canada at the Olympic Games in February.
The Kings also called up goalie Pheonix Copley from their AHL affiliate before their game in San Jose on Thursday night. The Kings will return from their two-week road trip to host Boston on Friday.
