Messi Seeks to Revive Inter Miami Against Philadelphia Union

This Saturday, the Argentinian star Lionel Messi will lead Inter Miami in their visit to Philadelphia Union, the current leader of the MLS Eastern Conference. The match represents a crucial challenge for a Miami team that is going through a complicated moment.

Inter Miami’s situation is delicate, as they have only managed one victory in their last seven matches. The team is looking to recover from the elimination in the Concacaf Champions League semifinals.

Inter Miami’s only recent triumph was against the New York Red Bulls, on May 2nd. Since then, they have suffered two defeats, 1-4 against Minnesota and 0-3 against Orlando City, in addition to a 3-3 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Despite Messi’s five goals and three assists in the MLS, including a goal in his last three matches, the team has not managed to reverse the situation. The future of coach Javier Mascherano, also Argentinian, is uncertain.

Inter Miami is in sixth position in the Eastern Conference, with 22 points, seven behind Philadelphia Union. The defense has been a weak point, with 21 goals conceded in 13 games, which has set off alarms in Florida.

In the Western Conference, Vancouver leads the table and will receive Real Salt Lake. Meanwhile, Los Angeles FC will face Montreal.

Denis Bouanga, with seven goals and three assists, remains the key figure in the attack for Los Angeles FC.

San Diego, with Hirving Lozano, will face Los Angeles Galaxy, the current MLS champions, who have yet to achieve a victory this season.
