Los Angeles – Shohei Ohtani hit his 17th home run of the season, solidifying his lead in Major League Baseball. However, this impressive hit was not enough to prevent the Los Angeles Dodgers’ defeat, who fell 9-5 to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first game of the series.

Arizona’s offense proved relentless, fueled by three two-run homers. Among the standouts was Dominican Geraldo Perdomo, who hit his sixth home run of the season.

In a game where Latino players shone, Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Venezuelan Gabriel Moreno also joined the home run party. In addition, starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt became the first Major League pitcher to reach seven wins this season.

Teoscar Hernández, Dominican outfielder for the Dodgers, reappeared in the lineup after coming off the injured list. Although he was unsuccessful with the bat (0-4), he contributed with a run scored and one driven in.

This loss marks the Dodgers’ fourth consecutive home defeat, something that hadn’t happened since May 2018. Furthermore, they have allowed six or more runs in five of their last seven games.

Arizona took advantage of the situation to take an early lead, managing to lead the scoreboard 7-0 in the first three innings. Perdomo’s home run was key in a rally that consolidated the offensive dominance of the Diamondbacks, who are looking to advance in the competitive West Division.

Despite Ohtani’s effort, who delighted the fans with a solo home run in the sixth inning, the Dodgers couldn’t avoid another defeat, sinking into an unexpected slump.
