In an exciting encounter, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Minnesota Twins with a score of 5-2, ending a 13-game winning streak for the Twins.

Gardener Jackson Chourio was the defensive figure of the match, stealing a potential home run from Royce Lewis that would have tied the game in the eighth inning.

Isaac Collins and Sal Frelick were key in the Brewers’ offense, driving in two runs each. This victory marks the end of the second-longest winning streak in Twins history.

The Twins won 15 games in a row in 1991, a season that culminated in the World Series title.

Minnesota was down 4-2 when Lewis, who had already hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning, sent a long hit to left-center field against Nick Mears, with a runner on second base. Chourio, with perfect timing, jumped and caught the ball with his glove over the fence, preventing the tie.

Rhys Hoskins contributed a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning, while Trevor Megill secured the game in the ninth inning, earning his sixth save of the season.

Frelick drove in Christian Yelich in the second inning, breaking a streak of 34 consecutive scoreless innings for Minnesota, a record for the Twins.

Milwaukee extended its lead to 4-0 in the third inning. Collins singled with the bases loaded and two outs, and Frelick added an RBI single.

Twins’ starter Zebby Matthews (0-1), called up from the minor leagues, allowed four runs and five hits in three innings.

Freddy Peralta (5-3) of Milwaukee allowed one run in five innings.

After cutting Milwaukee’s lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning, the Twins loaded the bases with two outs, but Peralta managed to end the threat by retiring Ryan Jeffers on a fly ball to right field.

The Brewers have never gone scoreless in a three-game series, although they were shut out in the first two games of each of their previous two series. They won 9-5 in Cleveland on Wednesday after falling 5-0 and 2-0.
