Adverse Weather Delays Third Round of PGA Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Adverse weather conditions have caused a delay in tee times for the third round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

The start of the game, initially scheduled for 8:15 a.m. ET, was suspended due to lightning.

The PGA of America announced that the 74 players who made the 36-hole cut will play the third round from split tees on holes 1 and 10, in groups of three, starting at 11:43 a.m. ET.

Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas, who leads by two strokes, will tee off from the 1st hole alongside Matthieu Pavon and Matt Fitzpatrick at 1:55 p.m. ET.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, along with Max Homa and Si Woo Kim, will begin on the 1st hole at 1:44 p.m. ET.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy, who had to work hard to make the cut at 1 over par, will tee off on the 10th hole alongside PGA Championship defending champion Xander Schauffele and Chris Kirk at 1:38 p.m. ET.

Players’ practice rounds at Quail Hollow were affected by bad weather on Monday and Tuesday, leaving the course waterlogged after more than four inches of rain fell.

Scheffler, Schauffele, and others criticized the PGA of America for not allowing players to play with preferred “lies,” which would allow them to lift, clean, and place their balls within a designated area.
