Infantino Advocates for the Fight Against Racism and Celebrates the Club World Cup in the USA

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the organization is working with governments to incorporate the fight against racism into criminal laws worldwide. These statements were made during the 75th Congress in Paraguay.

Infantino highlighted the upcoming edition of the Club World Cup, which will be held with 32 teams in twelve stadiums in the United States, between June 14 and July 13. The event will feature the participation of players from almost 90 countries, surpassing the number of nations present in the traditional World Cups.

The president assured that the first edition will be a success, highlighting the television contract that will allow free access to all matches worldwide, emphasizing that “football is for everyone.” Furthermore, he explained that the organization will not involve costs for FIFA.

We are not going to have to touch our reserves, everything that is collected will be returned to the solidarity funds for club football around the world.

Infantino thanked those who shared FIFA’s vision and underscored the organization’s commitment to the development of football globally. He mentioned the importance of being present in different parts of the world to listen, debate, and work as a team. He highlighted the unity and family spirit in football.

Regarding the financial data presented, with projected revenues of 13,000 million for the 2023-2026 cycle, compared to 6,500 million for the previous cycle, Infantino stated that this will allow the “Forward” development program to be multiplied by seven. The objective is to strengthen FIFA and consolidate its brand as the most important in the world of sport.

The FIFA president arrived in Asunción from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The delay in the landing of his flight forced the start of the Congress to be delayed by more than three hours.

The President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, also spoke at the Congress, highlighting the numerous representation of countries, even greater than the United Nations Assembly, as a demonstration of the universality of football.

Soccer is a factor of unity, a factor of peace. Where there is soccer there will be no war, there will be fraternity.
