United States Dominates Day One of the LPGA International Crown

In the exciting LPGA International Crown tournament, held in Goyang, South Korea, the United States team demonstrated its superiority by defeating China in two four-ball matches during the opening day.

Meanwhile, the world number one, Jeeno Thitikul, maintained her perfect streak in this team competition.

Thitikul, along with her compatriot Pajaree Anannarukarn from Thailand, achieved a victory over Hannah Green and Grace Kim from Australia. This victory marks Thitikul’s sixth consecutive win in the tournament.

The American team was the only one to win both initial matches, solidifying its position in the tournament.

In other featured results, Australia’s Minjee Lee and Steph Kyriacou defeated Chanettee Wannasaen and Jasmine Suwannapura of Thailand. Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin of the United States routed China’s Liu Yan and Yin Ruoning, while Lilia Vu and Lauren Coughlin also secured a victory for the American team.

In the tournament format, seven countries and a “Rest of the World” team compete in two groups. Group A is composed of the United States, China, Australia, and Thailand, while Group B includes South Korea, the World team, Japan, and Sweden.

The four-ball matches will continue on Friday and Saturday, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals and Sunday’s final. The latter will consist of a foursomes (alternate shot) and two singles matches.

Thitikul, who was part of the winning Thai team in 2023, is the only player in the tournament who has won the event. She has six victories on the LPGA Tour, including recent wins at the Mizuho Americas Open and the Shanghai tournament.

The LPGA’s Asian tour will continue next week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and conclude in Shiga, Japan, from November 6 to 9.
