Aaron Nesmith Secures His Future with the Pacers

Indiana Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith has reached an agreement to extend his contract with the franchise for two years and $40.4 million, ensuring his stay until the 2028-29 season. The agreement includes a compensation clause in case of a transfer.

The extension, announced this Monday, represents a significant bet on the part of the Pacers, who offered Nesmith the maximum salary allowed before the deadline for veteran contract extensions.

Nesmith has established himself as one of the team’s most prominent defenders, especially after his participation in the postseason, where he started in the 23 games he played, reaching the NBA Finals.

The 2024-25 season was a turning point for Nesmith, who achieved personal records in field goal percentage (51%), three-point percentage (43%), and free throw percentage (91%). During the regular season, he averaged 12 points and four rebounds in 45 games.

His performance in the postseason was even more impressive, taking on the responsibility of guarding key players such as Jalen Williams, Jalen Brunson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Darius Garland.

Additionally, Nesmith recorded an impressive 49.2% three-point shooting efficiency during the playoffs, the best percentage for any player in a single postseason with at least 100 three-point attempts in NBA history.
