Tommy Fleetwood Conquers the India Championship with a Spectacular Comeback
In a display of exceptional play, Tommy Fleetwood capped off an outstanding season with a victory at the India Championship. The English golfer, with an impressive streak of birdies, secured the triumph with a score of 7 under par and a total of 22 under par. The victory marks a significant milestone for Fleetwood, who had already celebrated previous successes, including the FedEx Cup title and a prominent role in the Ryder Cup. This triumph at the India Championship represents his first victory on the European circuit of the year. Keita Nakajima, who led the competition at the start of the final round, couldn’t keep up with Fleetwood, despite playing without bogeys. The key to Fleetwood’s success was a series of four consecutive birdies starting from the 7th hole, which allowed him to come back and take the lead. This triumph is especially significant for Fleetwood, as it allows him to be eligible for the final two events of the European season, the Abu Dhabi Championship and the Tour Championship in Dubai. Previously, his ranking position did not allow him to participate. Fleetwood’s joy increased as he shared the victory with his son Frankie, who ran to the 18th hole green to celebrate with his father. Fleetwood revealed that his son had expressed his desire to see him win a tournament where he could join the celebration. Nakajima, despite his effort, finished in second place. Shane Lowry, Thriston Lawrence and Alex Fitzpatrick shared third place. Rory McIlroy, who was participating for the first time in a tournament in India, finished in 26th place.I feel that, despite all the good that has happened this year, some things have disappointed me. Another victory feels great.
