Sei Young Kim Solidifies Lead at the BMW Ladies Championship with an Eagle
HAENAM, South Korea – South Korean golfer Sei Young Kim solidified her lead at the BMW Ladies Championship thanks to an impressive eagle on the 17th hole during the third round. Her outstanding performance allowed her to extend her lead to four strokes heading into the final round, after recording a score of 69 strokes, three under par, this Saturday.
In a day marked by wind and cloudiness at the Pine Beach Golf Links, located on the Korean peninsula, Kim finished the round with a total of 19 under par (197 strokes) in the three rounds, despite a bogey on the 18th hole.
Yealimi Noh and Nasa Hataoka, both with 67 and 69 strokes respectively, share the second position in the table.
American Brooke Matthews, who had closely followed Kim during the second round, suffered a triple bogey on the 15th hole, a par 3, which relegated her to six strokes behind the leader and placed her in a tie for fourth place, after a round of 74 strokes.
Defending champion Hannah Green signed a card of 68 strokes, finishing at 11 under par, eight strokes behind Kim, and tied with Australian Minjee Lee, who completed the day with 71 strokes. Brooke Henderson also recorded 71 strokes, finishing nine strokes behind the leader.
This tournament marks the start of two consecutive LPGA events in South Korea, followed by the International Crown team event next week. After the International Crown, the Asian tour will continue with two more tournaments in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and in Japan.
