Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr. will undergo surgery due to an injury to his left big toe, the team announced on Saturday. He will be reevaluated in 12 weeks.
The Grizzlies reported that Pippen will undergo a sesamoidectomy to treat “persistent discomfort,” and is expected to make a full recovery.
Pippen started in 21 games with the Grizzlies last season, averaging 9.9 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.3 rebounds.
The player, son of the Chicago Bulls legend and Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, was not selected in the 2022 draft after his time at Vanderbilt. He spent his rookie season on a dual contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, participating in six games.
The Grizzlies signed the point guard to a two-way contract in January 2024, and he has averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 assists in 100 games with Memphis.
