AUSTIN, Texas – Lando Norris has been held accountable by McLaren following the incident with his teammate, Oscar Piastri, at the Singapore Grand Prix. The team has announced that there will be “consequences” for Norris, although they have not specified what they will be. The incident occurred during the race in Singapore, where Norris was close to colliding with Piastri, who is ahead of him in the championship by 22 points. The contact occurred after Norris had to dodge Max Verstappen. Despite the incident, Norris maintained his position ahead of Piastri until the end of the race. Piastri expressed his frustration with the maneuver and suggested over the radio that Norris should concede the position, something McLaren did not apply during the race, but which seems to have changed their minds since then.
The team held me responsible for what happened, which I think is fair. We have made progress in understanding the repercussions for me, to prevent something worse from happening than what already happened.
