Denny Hamlin Conquers Las Vegas and Dedicates Victory to His Father

In an emotional day at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin took his sixth checkered flag of the season, achieving the 60th victory of his career. This triumph not only represents a personal milestone, but also secures his place in the NASCAR championship final. With tears in his eyes, Hamlin dedicated this achievement to his father, who has been a fundamental pillar in his career. The driver, known for being one of the most outstanding in NASCAR history without having won the Cup Series title, returns to the race for the championship for the first time since 2021.

“I am very happy that I was able to see victory number 60. That was very important to me,” Hamlin declared.

Hamlin, who equals Kevin Harvick in tenth place on the NASCAR wins list, demonstrated his skill by overtaking Kyle Larson and teammate Chase Briscoe in the final laps. After the final pit stop, Hamlin, with four new tires, climbed from fifth position to secure the victory. The triumph in Las Vegas is Hamlin’s seventh of the season, his best mark since 2020, and consolidates the work of his new team boss, Chris Gayle. For his part, Joe Gibbs, team owner, expressed his excitement for Hamlin’s dedication, highlighting the personal significance of the victory. In the competition, Kyle Larson, seeking to break a 20-race winless streak, finished in second place. Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe, both teammates of Hamlin, completed the top four. Tyler Reddick, who races for 23XI Racing, owned by Hamlin, placed fifth, followed by defending champion Joey Logano. Other prominent drivers in the competition were Chase Elliott (18th), William Byron (36th), and Ryan Blaney (38th). The next NASCAR event will be held at Talladega Superspeedway, where Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is the reigning champion.
