Unstoppable United States in the Hockey World Cup: Two Consecutive Shutouts!

HERNING, Denmark – The United States secured a resounding victory over Hungary with a score of 6-0, thus adding their second win without allowing goals in the ice hockey world championship on Sunday.

Frank Nazar stood out with two goals and one assist, while Cutter Gauthier also shone by scoring two goals. Conor Garland and Logan Cooley contributed with one goal and one assist each for the American team in the Group B match, held in Herning.

Nazar deflected a shot by Cooley to open the scoring with 5:53 left in the first period, and then added his second goal 2:47 later, from behind the goal line in front of goaltender Adam Vay.

Gauthier extended the lead to 3-0 from the right circle midway through the second period.

The following two goals came with a difference of only 41 seconds at the beginning of the last period. Gauthier scored his second goal 1:13 after the period started, and Garland scored the fifth from close range.

Cooley closed the account by scoring in an empty goal.

Goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 13 saves.

Previously, the United States had defeated Denmark with a score of 5-0 and will face Switzerland on Monday.

In Stockholm, Slovakia secured their first victory in Group A, after defeating Slovenia, also a newcomer, with a score of 3-1.
