Savy King is Rushed to Hospital After Incident in NWSL Match

LOS ANGELES – Angel City defender, Savy King, was stretchered off the field and transported to the hospital following a “medical incident” during the match against Utah Royals in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) on Friday night.

The players showed signs of shock as the coaches rushed to attend to King after she fell to the ground in the 74th minute. She was attended to for about 10 minutes before being taken off the field on a cart.

King was transported by emergency services to the hospital following a medical incident on the field. She is responsive and is undergoing further evaluation. We appreciate everyone’s concern and support.

Angel City Statement

After the match, both teams gathered in a circle at the center of the field to pray for King.

King, 20, was the second overall pick in the 2024 NWSL draft by expansion team Bay FC and played 18 games for the club. She was traded to Angel City in February and has started in the team’s eight games this season.
