PHOENIX – In a thrilling encounter, Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning, crowning a six-run rally that gave the Los Angeles Dodgers the victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a final score of 14-11 on Friday night.
The Dodgers were down 11-8 at the start of the ninth inning, after squandering an initial five-run lead.
Andy Pages and Enrique Hernandez started the ninth inning with consecutive doubles, driving in runs against Kevin Ginkel.
Max Muncy tied the game with a run-scoring single, and Ryan Thompson came to the mound to face Ohtani.
Ohtani, who had already hit two doubles, found himself in a 1-2 count before hitting his 12th home run, sending the ball near the pool area and putting the Dodgers up 14-11. Ohtani finished the game with four RBIs.
