Santo Domingo – The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, has confirmed the Ministry’s support for the ninth edition of the Women’s National Basketball League (LNBF) 2025. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 12, at the San Carlos club’s sports complex, starting at 5 p.m.
Cruz assured that the Ministry will provide all the necessary support to ensure the continuity, strengthening, and expansion of this project nationwide.
Dedication and Cup
The championship, which will feature the participation of six teams from various regions, will be dedicated to the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, and will be played for the BanReservas Don Máximo Bernard Cup.
It is a commitment I make with the presidents of the LNBF and Fedombal, Fernando Teruel and Rafael Uribe, that as long as I am Minister of Sports, that support will always be latent.

Participating Teams
The teams will be divided into two groups:
- Group A: Reynas del Este (Hato Mayor), Calero de Villa Duarte and las Leñeras de Los Mina (Santo Domingo province).
- Group B: Murallas de San Lázaro (National District), Olímpicas de La Vega (La Vega) and Hidalgas de Santiago (Santiago).
Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal), also participated in the event, highlighting the importance of this tournament for the promotion and development of women’s basketball.
Fernando Teruel, president of the LNBF, valued the organization and the quality of the teams that will compete starting May 12.
