Odell Beckham Jr. Receives Six-Game Suspension for Violation of NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy
Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been suspended for six games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy, delaying his expected return to the field. The news of the suspension was revealed by Beckham himself during an interview on the “The Pivot Podcast” podcast, published on Tuesday.The player, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, insisted that he did not knowingly consume any prohibited substance. He added that, when asking the league about the specific substance that the positive test detected, he was informed that his “testosterone levels were too high.” The suspension, which appeared in the official NFL transaction register on Tuesday, starts the six-week countdown before Beckham can play again. Beckham, who will turn 33 when the suspension ends, reiterated his desire to return to the NFL this season. During the interview, he mentioned four teams he would be interested in playing for: the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Kansas City Chiefs, and two of his former teams, the Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants. Beckham will not be eligible to play until Week 12. He was released by the Dolphins last December, after failing to make a significant impact in nine games, during which he had nine receptions for 55 yards.Beckham, currently a free agent, explained that the banned substances test was conducted while he was playing for the Miami Dolphins last season.
