WNBA Finals: Highest-Viewed Opening Game in Recent History
Las Vegas, Nevada – The opening game of the WNBA Finals has marked a significant milestone, recording the highest viewership for a Game 1 since the league’s inaugural season.
An average of 1.9 million viewers tuned in to Friday night’s game, where Las Vegas defeated Phoenix with a score of 89-86. This figure represents a 62% increase compared to last season’s matchup between New York and Minnesota.
The peak audience during the game reached 2.5 million viewers.
It should be noted that only the 1997 championship, which was a Game 1 of “all or nothing”, surpassed these viewership figures.
The audience data for Game 2 has not yet been released.
