Jackson LaCombe Secures His Future with the Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks have reached an agreement with defenseman Jackson LaCombe, a key piece in the team’s rebuilding, for an eight-year contract extension, the team announced this Thursday. The agreement has an average annual value of $9 million, similar to the contract Luke Hughes signed with the New Jersey Devils. This contract is the largest awarded by the Ducks and will begin in the 2026-27 season, ending in 2033-34. LaCombe still has one year remaining on a two-year bridge contract with an average annual value of $925,000 that he signed in 2024.

Extending LaCombe’s contract was a priority for the team, and he has all the tools to be a cornerstone of our defense for many years.

Pat Verbeek, General Manager of the Anaheim Ducks
Verbeek also commented that both parties were looking for long-term agreements, which facilitated the negotiations. In addition, he expressed his confidence in the contract and in LaCombe’s character, anticipating continued growth in his game. LaCombe, 24, was selected in the 39th overall pick of the 2019 NHL draft. In his career, he has 60 points in 148 games, with 14 goals and 29 assists in 75 games last season. LaCombe expressed his enthusiasm for staying in Anaheim long-term, highlighting the positive environment and the support of his teammates.

I love being here. I love playing here. I love all my teammates, so for me it was an easy decision.

Jackson LaCombe
LaCombe, a Minnesota alumnus, was invited to the U.S. Olympic orientation camp, putting him in consideration for a spot on the 2026 men’s hockey team. LaCombe is the first player to re-sign from the Ducks’ restricted free agent class. Verbeek indicated that they are working on other deals, and this is the second significant signing in the last week, following the six-year, $42 million extension with Mason McTavish. The Anaheim Ducks are looking for their first playoff berth since 2018.
