Teams Defined for the 2025 Major League Baseball Postseason
This Sunday, the list of the twelve teams that will compete in the Major League Baseball postseason in 2025 was completed. A day full of excitement and surprises, where the teams fought to secure their place in the next phase of the championship.
The elimination of the New York Mets was one of the most talked-about moments, especially for Dominican fans, who were hoping to see Juan Soto, the highest-paid player in baseball, in the postseason.
The Miami Marlins defeated the Mets with a score of 4-0. Dominican pitcher Edward Cabrera had an outstanding performance, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 7 batters. This defeat left the Mets with no options, as they needed to win to advance to the postseason via wild card.
Despite losing 4-2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cincinnati Reds managed to secure their place in the playoffs, thus completing the lineup of qualified teams.
Defined Wild Card Series
Here’s how the wild card series will be played:
National League
- Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds
- Chicago Cubs vs. San Diego Padres
American League
- New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
- Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Guardians
Toronto secured the lead in its division after defeating Tampa Bay, while Seattle and the Blue Jays were seeded directly into the American League Division Series. In the National League, Philadelphia and Milwaukee did the same by leading their respective divisions.
The wild card series, scheduled for the best of three games, will begin this Tuesday in the stadiums of the teams with the best record.
